Amazing People Helping Animals

Chico says, "Please Help My Favorite Vets win a Pepsi Grant!"

I just got home from taking our newest dog, Chico, to our vet, St. Francis Animal Hospital.  We adopted him Monday from Craigslist; he was free.  When I saw him, he was huddled behind a couch on a screen porch, shivering with fear.  He let me pick him up, however, and immediately nestled next to my heart.  I, of course, fell in love.

The previous owner said he was 3 months old when he got him from a friend and had all of his shots.  But today I found out he’s between 1 and 2 years old, and has a major flea allergy.  The vet was so sweet with him.  He had to have all of his shots, plus blood drawn for a heartworm check (negative Thank God), a stool sample taken, and his nails trimmed.  He was such a good boy, however, his vet  gave him some healthy peanut butter afterwards for a treat.

The staff at St. Francis is amazing; they are so gentle and obviously  love what they do.  They also work with their clients to bring affordable vet care to all of our city’s animals.  And they do a superb job.  But they could do even more with a larger space and more equipment.  So they’ve applied for a $250,000 Pepsi Grant to get a larger office, buy some much-needed new equipment, and provide capital as they continue their daily operations.  Please click on the link below to learn more about this amazing facility and give them a vote:
