Check out this Inspiring Library Blog!

Our 21st century learning specialist just shared this year’s winner of the Edublog Award for  Best Library Blog.  I was floored.  The winner, Castilleja School Library, has an amazing website that completely changed my concept of what a blog can be.

I’ve always thought of a blog as an electronic journal where I record my thoughts and actions, a la “Doogie Howser M.D.”  But this blog is actually a virtual presence for this amazing school library, as well as an online hub for the students.  They include student and staff book reviews, cool stuff, videos, links to the online catalog, and much, much more.

I’m very excited to think about taking my library in this direction.  I see this as a way to take what I do – promote the joy and magic of reading through storytelling and readers’ advisory – and make it available 24/7/365 for my students, teachers, parents and colleagues.  Not to mention a way of sharing my knowledge and expertise with the rest of the world.

Stay posted for news on my new blog’s progress.  In case you’re interested, here’s the link for the amazing Castilleja School Library:
